You have either applied to a vacancy that appeals to you or ALTEN came across your profile. If we see sufficient matches, one of our recruiters will contact you by phone as soon as possible.
P.S. Do we see insufficient matches to the vacancy you reacted to? Then we will always check whether you might be a better match for another vacancy within our organization and will discuss this with you.
After the initial contact by telephone, we will schedule an introductory interview with one of our recruiters, possibly in combination with a full application round at one of our offices in your area.
Two interviews with business managers will then follow and there will be extensive discussions about your knowledge and experience that fits in with work areas in which ALTEN is active. A programming test or test case can be part of the application process.
At the end of the full application session, we will discuss whether we will offer you permanent contract and you can go home with our offer at once!
As a consultant at ALTEN you will find that you will develop your skills quickly. This is partly because of our wide variety of projects and partly because of our continuous attention to your development. To facilitate this we have developed the ‘career diamond’ and offer trainings through our own ALTEN Academy. You can read more about the development opportunities below.
ALTEN has clients in various sectors with different company sizes. This can vary from startups to large international players such as ASML, Philips and Shell. This large diversity of projects ensures that you can always continue to develop, whether this concerns the newest techniques or organizational aspects.
One of the unique aspects within ALTEN is the ALTEN Delivery Center. This is our in-house project organization, which executes projects for our customers at one of our offices. Because of our project responsibility, all roles within the software development lifecycle are present. From project managers and software developers to software testers, data analysts and UX-ers. This gives you the opportunity to fulfill your ambition under the guidance of ALTEN.
ALTEN is a knowledge company and our consultants are knowledge owners in their expertise. Through the ALTEN Academy, we share this knowledge not only with our customers, but also with you as a consultant.
Only a few careers follow a straight line. Especially at the beginning of a career there is a need to try out in order to experience which direction you want to go. To facilitate you as a consultant with your career we have developed the career diamond; a model that represents both vertical and horizontal growth. The vertical growth is represented by translating different skills into levels of seniority, for example your technical skills, coaching junior colleagues, making a direct contribution to the success of ALTEN, etc.. Horizontal growth is characterized by expertise ranging from technical depth (through technical direction and project direction) to management.
Supervision at ALTEN
Supervision within ALTEN is very important. You will have your own Business Manager and a Technical Manager who will help, guide and coach you. Besides that, your colleagues are also very important, both in terms of content and fun (one of our core values). Read more about the coaching within ALTEN below.
At ALTEN you have your own Business Manager, together with you he/she is responsible for your career. The Business Manager is your first point of contact and you will meet him/her regularly during progress meetings or your annual performance review. A big advantage is that the Business Manager is also responsible for the client for whom you perform on your project. This means he/she can coach you better and knows exactly how things work at the client. The team of consultants for which a Business Manager is responsible is not very large, so you have a lot of personal contact. In this way, together we contribute directly to our core value of Open & Involved.
In addition to the progress meetings with your Business Manager, there are also career development meetings with your Technical Manager (TM). Here, together with the Technical Manager, you will discuss your current position and the role you aspire. The TM will help you formulate concrete steps that will move you forward, such as what skills you need to develop, how you can develop them and what training you need to do so.
Throughout the year, many meetings and events take place with your ALTEN colleagues. These are both for knowledge sharing (matching our core value Networkers in Knowledge) and for fun. For example, our FestivAlten at our parking lot, but also the monthly meetings and technical playgrounds. Good moments to continue to meet your colleagues and learn from each other.
The culture within ALTEN is determined by our core values. The first and perhaps the most important is People. Our strength comes from our people and we are proud of that.
All our people have a passion for technology and together they create a personal and informal atmosphere.
To stay ahead in our field, it is important to continue to develop and learn from each other as networkers in knowledge. Through knowledge groups, playgrounds and Uncle Bob sessions, we provide this knowledge sharing in various ways. You will also develop through various projects and our ALTEN Academy.
Your ambitions and your pro-activity connect seamlessly with our core value, aim high.
Our fifth core value, open and involved, is expressed in the way we treat each other at ALTEN. Openness, transparency and accessibility are of paramount importance.
Throughout the year, many meetings and events with your ALTEN colleagues take place that contribute to our core value of fun. The annual FestivAlten in our parking lot, the monthly meeting and not to forget, the ALTEN ski trip.
