Employment Legal Counsel
We’re looking for a talented and highly motivated Employment Legal Counsel to support our businesses in Netherlands.
You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with broad, generalist responsibilities, with specialist legal subject skills in labor law.
You will be responsible for counseling the business operations in our Dutch entities, by giving pro-active, professional, competent, effective legal support.
You’ll need to bring negotiation and drafting skills and business sense to deal with multiple functional teams in a rapidly scaling business.
You will collaborate with regional, local and corporate business leaders as well as with supporting areas (Finance, Admin, Accounting & HR) advising on legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to the company’s businesses.
You will be required to work independently as well as part of various teams and take on projects in addition to the daily day job. The position reports to the Head of Legal Europe Alten Group and in dotted line to local country managers. Position shall be based in preference in our offices in Capelle, Rotterdam.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Drafting of templates for employment contracts, contracts for self-employed persons, and legal conditions of bonus letters.
- Advise and take a leading role in the preparation and determination of resolving amongst others disputes and settlement agreements and (warning) letters in relation to employees, and thereby helps to bring about a result which is in the best possible interests of the Company. Will liaise when needed with external lawyers in the event of legal proceedings being taken.
- Gatekeeper in minimizing Legal risk in relation to the matter addressed.
- Providing legal advice to HR Administration team and the Business, including reviewing policies and procedures.
- Keeping track of new legislation and advices the Company of such and assist with the implementation of required legal amendments to policies and procedures.
- Maintain contacts with business/company lawyers, take part in study groups on various legal subjects.
- Provide expertise in works council matters.
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of legal employment matters (such as but not limited: collective bargaining agreements, restructures (team and organisational), individual (complex) issues, harmonization of employment conditions, M/A projects and due diligence investigations on employment conditions, audit and inspection labour related,… ),
- Maintain relevant local insurances (labour related) and ensure GDPR compliance labour related.
- Expertise in laws and regulations for the staffing industry
- Knowledge of tax aspects of remuneration and social legislation
- Knowledge of laws and regulations in the field of working conditions and disability
- Advice and policies on expat regulations and international labour relations.
- Master’s degree in labor law;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in providing legal advice on a wide variety of Labor legal matters, ideally within an in-house / corporate environment;
- Excellent organizational skills, able to work under pressure and in autonomy ;

- High degree of professional ethics and integrity;
- Fluent English and Dutch language skills required;
