RISE

RISE is a student initiative from the University of Twente and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam that drives innovation in rocketry and space engineering.

The student team brings together STEM students to work on multidisciplinary projects addressing sustainability in the space sector. This challenge is becoming increasingly critical with limited Earth resources and growing orbital debris.

RISE focuses on two key areas: Project Alpha, which aims to demonstrate the first vertical landing of a biofuel-powered rocket, combining reusability with renewable fuels; and Project Clean Space, an annual competition that engages students in developing creative solutions for space debris removal and in-orbit servicing. These projects not only advance technological innovation but also raise awareness of sustainability in space and inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists.

ALTEN Nederland provides RISE with consultancy services with technical expertise on various problems.
