PEOPLE, KNOWLEDGE & INNOVATION
Practice Management: where expertise meets innovation

At ALTEN Nederland, our strength lies in our people and their expertise. With teams working across a wide range of industries and technologies, staying ahead requires more than technical knowledge alone. It requires a structured approach to developing, connecting, and growing expertise throughout the organisation.
That is exactly where our Practice Management team comes in. It is a distinctive function designed to ensure we continuously strengthen our technical capabilities, support innovation, and create value for both our consultants and clients. As we continue to grow our team, we are happy to announce that Marie-José Klerks has been appointed as one of our new Practice Managers.

Connecting expertise across ALTEN
As Lead Practice Manager Leon Wolters explains, Practice Management is responsible for ensuring that ALTEN has the right technical expertise, at the right level, available at the right time. Just as important, it ensures that expertise is visible, connected, and continuously developed throughout the organisation.
Our Practice Managers bring together technology, people, and business. They oversee competence management, support innovation initiatives, help develop our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and support the organisation with expert knowledge where it is needed.
By connecting specialists and encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing, Practice Management helps build a culture where expertise can thrive.

Leon Wolters
“We not only help build expertise for tomorrow, but also apply expertise to create impact today.”

Shaping the future of technology
A significant part of a Practice Manager’s role is strategic. They identify competence needs, monitor technological developments, and work to ensure ALTEN remains prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
This means strengthening our Technical Communities and stimulating thought leadership and innovation in areas that will shape the future of our industry. Practice Managers play a key role in developing technical excellence across their practice areas and helping consultants grow their skills.
Creating impact every day
At the same time, Practice Management has a very practical side. Through their network of experts, Practice Managers support colleagues, projects, clients, sales activities, recruitment, and technical decision-making.
In many ways, they act as the link between long-term capability development and day-to-day business needs. Our Practice Managers not only help build expertise for tomorrow but also apply expertise to create impact today.
For Leon, Marie-José’s arrival represents a valuable addition to the Practice Management team. “She brings significant expertise in Cyber Security and DevOps, a strong strategic perspective, and a proven track record of helping organisations achieve their goals. Her arrival further strengthens our team and creates new opportunities to expand and develop these expertise domains within ALTEN.”
Bringing together people, knowledge and innovation
A Practice Manager is constantly bringing together different elements of the organisation. From technical communities and specialist knowledge to innovation programmes and project delivery, everything is aligned around a shared goal: maintaining technical expertise and continuously evolving it and ensuring it remains relevant to our consultants, our clients, and the organisation as a whole.
Marie-José Klerks
“We continue to develop and learn; we practice what we preach and stay true to what we can and what we cannot do, and at the heart of that is how we collaborate within ALTEN.”
