This year marks the 20^th anniversary of ALTEN Nederland. During these years, we have shared memorable moments and built lasting connections with our colleagues and clients. To highlight this milestone, we spoke with some of our long-term employees. They reflected on their journey at ALTEN, shared their most memorable experiences, and described what the company means to them. Join us as we look back through their eyes at 20 years of ALTEN Nederland.

How has ALTEN Nederland contributed to your career?

Senior Business Manager Liesbeth shares that ALTEN has supported her development through coaching and training, helping her learn to think several steps ahead and to communicate decisions effectively to all parties involved. Dennis adds that he also received the support he needed through training. “I also feel that I can follow my own goals within ALTEN.”

Listening and staying curious are two things Liesbeth has learned a lot from. “What has also helped me grow is being surrounded by colleagues with different personalities, from strong salespeople to people-focused team players. By openly sharing approaches and challenging each other, we constantly refine our way of working.”

Through ALTEN, Bart experienced different companies in the Eindhoven region, which helped him develop more broadly. “I also started coaching and training other people at ALTEN, and that is something that I’d never done before. With some training and building up experience, I am where I am today.”

What do you think makes ALTEN Nederland a special place to work?

For Leon, ALTEN is about knowledge: “What binds all the people here together is a passion for technology. This ranges from hardware to software to data. But we see that we all find each other in that passion for technology and in how we transform that passion into working solutions for our customers.” Paul agrees that he has never seen other consultancy companies with as much knowledge and passion as the people at our company.

Besides knowledge, Michelle and Liesbeth agreed that their colleagues are what makes the workplace special for them. Liesbeth mentions that the diversity in personalities and skills is what makes ALTEN so dynamic. “There’s a strong sense of collaboration, and people genuinely support each other. You’re encouraged to think creatively and take initiative, and that makes it an exciting environment to be in.” Michelle shares that the combination of meaningful projects and a fun, supportive team is important to her. “We work hard on challenging and rewarding projects, but there’s also always room for socialising and good energy. That balance between getting things done and enjoying the ride makes it special.”

Dennis has been with ALTEN Nederland for almost 30 years. He is the longest-serving consultant still with the company. “ALTEN feels like a second family to me.”

Can you share a moment when you felt truly inspired by your colleagues? 

Edo felt most inspired during unexpected moments when a colleague shared an idea that made him see things differently. “It could be something technical, a smart strategy or just a new way to approach a problem.” Liesbeth, on the other hand, didn’t have just a single moment on her mind. The ongoing exchange of ideas and openness among colleagues inspires her. “Everyone brings different strengths to the table. The fact that we challenge and support each other through shared experiences really makes a difference. It keeps you sharp and helps you grow.”

As a Technical Manager, Leon helps many people in their growth and careers. He sees inspiring moments where people come into their own. “I’ve seen people come in as graduates and take on projects and then start to lead those projects. Next, they start to teach me again. And seeing that, that is really inspiring.”

If you could describe ALTEN Nederland in one sentence, what would it be?

Bart sees ALTEN as a company where people can work on solving technical problems, learn from others and have fun with colleagues. Edo adds: “We share knowledge in all kinds of ways through coaching, knowledge sessions and the ALTEN Academy.”

Paul continues to say that ALTEN is an open company with many different possibilities, lots of fun, knowledge, and professionalism. Dennis also focuses on the fun he has while working at ALTEN.

Michelle looks back at the exciting projects she has been working on and the collaboration with companies, with which ALTEN has built strong, long-term relationships over the years. Liesbeth concludes that our company is “a dynamic and collaborative environment where passionate professionals combine technology, knowledge, and personal connections to drive real impact, for both clients and for their own growth.”

Liesbeth Rebel: Senior Business Manager at ALTEN for 8 years. In this role, Liesbeth works closely with both technical companies and her consultants to help drive innovation and product development forward.

Dennis Jöris: Senior Consultant in Software Development. Dennis started working at ALTEN when it was still PTS, back in 1996, which makes him the longest-serving consultant still with the company.

Bart Beumer: Software Engineer and Trainer. Bart specialises in C++ and has been with ALTEN for 15 years.

Michelle Fuchs: Facility Project Coordinator. Michelle coordinates different projects and has been with ALTEN for more than 9 years.

Leon Wolters: Technical Manager at ALTEN since 2016.

Paul van den Berg: Scrum Master, Agile Coach and Trainer at ALTEN Nederland for 26 years. Paul studied Electronics and was a Software Engineer for most of his professional life.

Edo van der Post: Lead Practice Manager for 13 years. That includes Edo’s time at Eclipse IT, which was acquired by ALTEN in 2016.
