‘Travelling along as key for assessment’ (16.00 uur)
Oude en mensgerichte vaardigheden voor projectleiding zijn zo sterk, dat ook in Coronatijd doelen gehaald kunnen worden. De meest uitdagende beperking ervaart Willem Haak in de jaarlijkse, drie weken durende cursus die hij geeft op een universiteit in Shanghai.
In tegenstelling tot voorgaande jaren, moet nu zowel het lesgeven als het beoordelen (testen) van de vaardigheden van de studenten op grote afstand gedaan worden. In zijn presentatie laat hij zien, dat structurele aanpak en mensgericht contact een mooie ervaring opleveren en voldoende grip geven om ontwikkeling van mensen te meten.
Willem Haak
Willem is opgeleid aan de TU Delft, Werktuigbouwkunde en Industrieel Ontwerpen. Daarna vervulde hij diverse rollen in de industrie, waaronder constructeur, ontwerper, tester en projectleider. Om naast ontwikkeling en toepassing ook aan kennisoverdracht te kunnen werken, koos hij er zo’n 15 jaar geleden voor om docent te worden bij de opleiding Engineering aan de HZ University of Applied Sciences in Vlissingen. Dit deed hij in combinatie met een onderzoekersrol bij diverse lectoraten.
Docent
Door het geven van verschillende vakken aan verschillende groepen studenten, ontwikkelde hij een strategie en tactiek om aan te sluiten bij de kennis en ervaring van de studenten. Met het oog op de noodzaak om de studenten voor te bereiden op een zich ontwikkelende wereld, laat hij de studenten instrumenten ontwikkelen om zichzelf te kunnen redden in toekomstige carrièresituaties.
In zijn rol als thesiscoördinator verfijnt hij de methodologie om de studenten in staat te stellen zich voor te bereiden op de uitvoering van de thesisprojecten. Daarnaast stemt hij de afstudeerrapporten af op de andere ingenieursopleidingen in Nederland. De inspanning werpt zijn vruchten af.
Tenslotte neemt hij jaarlijks deel aan het succesvolle internationale programma waar hij een 3 weken durende training ter plaatse geeft aan 75 studenten van de internationale universiteit. Vanwege corona moest dit de laatste edities online gebeuren. De voorbereidingen moesten nog preciezer dan anders, maar het lukte aardig.

Ancient and people-oriented project management skills are so strong that goals can be achieved even in Corona time. Willem Haak experiences the most challenging limitation in the annual, three-week course he teaches at a university in Shanghai.
In contrast to previous years, both teaching and assessing (testing) the skills of the students must now be done from a great distance. In his presentation, he shows that a structural approach and human-centred contact provide a beautiful experience and a sufficient grip to measure people’s development.
Willem Haak
Willem was educated at TU Delft, Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design (until 2000). After that he fulfilled various roles in the industry, including constructor, designer, tester and project manager. In order to work on transfer of knowledge, in addition to development and application, he chose about 15 years ago to become a lecturer in the Engineering study program at the HZ University of Applied Sciences in Vlissingen. He did this in combination with a researcher role at various research groups.
Teaching different subjects for different groups of students, he developed a strategy and tactics to fit to the knowledge and experience of the students. Considering the necessity to prepare the students for a developing world, he makes the students develop tools to be able to save themselves in the future career situations.
In his role as thesis coordinator, he refines the methodology to make the students capable to prepare themselves to execute the thesis projects. Next to that, he calibrates the graduation reports with the other engineering studies in The Netherlands. The effort shows off.
Finally, he participates annually in the successful international program where he gives a 3 weeks on spot training to 75 students of the international university. Due to corona, this had to be done online the last editions. The preparations had to be even more precise than usual, but it worked quite well.
