Cloud from an Air Force Perspective

Cloud from an Air Force Perspective
All military aircrafts that are being acquired today, are not equipped with a wealth of sensors. All that information must be analyzed, corroborated and disseminated. Considering that the military often works in low-bandwidth environments, this creates challenges. These challenges can only be met when industry and the military work closely together. This means that more and more, the air force must consider moving part of its infrastructure, software and platforms to a cloud environment. This is not without challenges and problems.

Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel (Daan) Storm van Leeuwen currently serves as the staff officer ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) within the Air Force Headquarters in Breda.

LtCol Storm van Leeuwen graduated from the Royal Military Academy in Breda in 2003, after which he completed several functions within the Intelligence and Security domain. He was deployed to Afghanistan three times and to Kyrgyzstan once, all in support of the NATO Interim Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.

Having worked in the security domain at the NATO Tactical Leadership Program in Florennes (Belgium) and Gilze-Rijen Air Base, and more recently the headquarters in Breda, LtCol Storm van Leeuwen has a wealth of experience as a (information) security professional and staff officer. He is also the founder of the Air Force Cyber Warfare Team.

In his free time, he enjoys running, travelling and playing at hackthebox.eu. LtCol Storm van Leeuwen is married with two children and lives in the South of the Netherlands.
